Marvel Tōkon PC performance: what was actually reported

During the July 24–26 open beta, PC performance was the single loudest complaint in the community — and the developers said publicly that they were aware and investigating. Here is what is confirmed and, more importantly, what is not.

What is confirmed

Two things, both public. First, a substantial number of PC players reported severe performance problems during the open beta weekend — one of the most-discussed threads in the game’s subreddit was titled, in the poster’s own words, an amazing game that was currently unplayable on PC. Second, the developers acknowledged the PC issues and said they were investigating a fix; that acknowledgement thread drew 249 upvotes and 74 comments.

Notably, several of the players reporting problems were running hardware comfortably above the listed minimum of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB. That suggests the beta’s problems were not a simple case of under-spec machines — but “suggests” is as far as the evidence goes.

Update — the day-one patch (August 6) shipped the fixes. The launch patch removed unnecessary character-animation updates to cut CPU load, lightened the UI update, fixed the sharp slowdown while running OBS or Discord overlays, corrected an issue that enabled unintended DLSS/FSR/XeSS plug-ins, and enabled a shader warm-up by default. Whether that clears your specific setup is a hardware question we can’t benchmark for you, but the developers’ promised fixes did land — the full list is on the patch notes page.

What would change this page

Official patch notes, a developer statement naming the cause, or launch-day reports from the retail build. Any of those and this page gets rewritten the same day. Until then it stays a report of what happened rather than a repair guide we are not qualified to write.

If you are deciding between versions: the PS5 version had no comparable wave of reports during the same weekend. That is a real signal, and also a three-day sample.

Common questions

Is Marvel Tōkon badly optimised on PC?
During the July 24–26 open beta, a large number of PC players reported severe performance problems, and the developers publicly acknowledged they were aware and investigating. Whether that carries into the retail build is not yet known — the beta client is not the launch build.
Has a fix been released?
As of July 26, 2026, the acknowledgement is public but no fix or patch notes have been published. This page updates when there is something real to report.
Will meeting the minimum specification be enough?
Several players reporting problems were running well above the listed minimum (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB), so the beta issues did not look like a hardware-floor problem. That is an observation about the beta, not a prediction about launch.
Should I buy the PC version or the PS5 version?
We are not going to make that call for you on beta evidence. What is documented: the beta problems were reported on PC specifically, and the developers said they were investigating. If you have both options and want certainty on day one, waiting for launch-day reports is reasonable.
