Unbreakable X-Men
Trailer availableWeather, claws, portals, and a sentient Danger Room.
Arc System Works split the launch roster into 5 squads of four, each with its own trailer and its own idea. You are not locked into them — you can draft your own — but they are how the game introduces itself.
Want to make your own squad instead of reading about the fixed five? The Marvel Tōkon team builder drafts a 4v4 from the whole roster and gives you a shareable link. This page is about the five official launch teams.
A team is four fighters, and only one of them is on screen at a time. That fighter is your point character; the other three sit behind them as assists you can call mid-combo or tag in outright. So a squad is not a roster of favourites — it is one gameplan plus three answers to the situations that gameplan is bad at.
That is the whole reason the composition question is interesting. A point character who struggles to get in wants an assist that opens the opponent up. A point character who wins up close wants something covering the range they cannot reach. Whether the five official squads are balanced that way is a question we will only be able to answer with the launch build in front of us.
Arc System Works split the 20 launch fighters into 5 squads of four, gave each its own reveal trailer, and used them to introduce the game. Nothing forces you to keep them — the team builder drafts from the whole roster — but they are the framing the game itself uses, they are how Episode Mode is organised, and they are what people mean in conversation when they say a team name.
Each team page below breaks down its four members, what is documented about their kits, and how much of that squad was playable in the July beta. Four launch fighters have no published movelist yet because they were not playable in that beta.
