The 7 launch stages

Every arena PlayStation has named, and which 6 of them people have actually played. The stage list is unusually well documented for a game this far from release — what is not documented is how any of them behave.

What is documented, and what is not

The names are solid — all seven come from PlayStation’s own game page, and the six beta stages from its beta announcement. That is more than usually gets published this far out, and it is why a stage list is worth having at all right now.

What has not been published is how any stage plays: hazards, wall-break routes, whether transitions between areas are mechanical or decorative, or how stage selection works in ranked. Other sites have pages on exactly those topics. They are writing plausible-sounding fiction, and the giveaway is that they all describe different mechanics. Our stage pages stay short until August 6, then get filled with things that can be tested.

One more is coming: the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass adds a stage alongside its four fighters. Only Phoenix Cyclops has been named so far — the stage has not.

Common questions

How many stages are in Marvel Tōkon?
Seven are named on PlayStation's game page: Marvel's New York in day and night variants, Wakanda, X-Mansion, Knowhere, Savage Land and Asgard. The Year 1 pass adds one more, still unnamed.
Which stages were in the open beta?
Six of the seven. Everything except Asgard was playable during the July 24–26 open beta.
Do stages have hazards or interactive elements?
Nothing official has been published about stage hazards, wall-break routes or interactive elements. Pages elsewhere describing specific stage transitions are not working from a published source. This section fills in once there is one.
Can you pick your stage?
Stage selection rules have not been documented. We will describe them once the retail build is out rather than guessing at them now.
