About the team names

Some four-character combinations produce a special name on the versus screen instead of the usual generated one. That is a player discovery from the open beta, not an official feature list — the community’s whole record of it is Reddit comments and screenshot galleries.

This tool matches only exact combinations someone actually recorded, and names who recorded it. It does not guess. Three players describe the underlying rule three different ways — one says it uses a majority of the team, another got the same name with a different fighter, a third thinks the leader slot decides it — which means nobody knows the rule yet. When it is confirmed, this can do more. Until then it does less, on purpose.

Questions about the team builder

Is the Marvel Tōkon team builder free?

Yes. There is no account, no sign-up and no paywall. Nothing you build is stored on a server — the squad lives in the URL, which is why sharing it works and why closing the tab loses nothing that the link would not restore.

How many characters go in a Marvel Tōkon team?

Four: one point character you start the match as, and three you call in. This builder drafts all four from the full 20-fighter roster and lets you reorder them, because the slot a fighter sits in changes their job.

Does the order of the four characters matter?

Yes, which is why this tool reorders rather than just collecting four names. Your point character is who you start with and who takes the neutral game; the other three are assists you call. The open-beta usage data shows the roster splits hard along that line — some fighters were picked almost exclusively as assists.

Is this a Marvel Tōkon team maker?

Can I put DLC characters in a team?

Phoenix Cyclops is in the roster list as the first announced Year 1 DLC fighter, marked as such. The remaining three Year 1 slots have not been announced, so there is nothing to add for them yet.
