Open beta: playable10 documented movesAugust 6, 2026

Summary

The Daywalker hunts at every range — stakes, guns, glaive, sword.

Blade hunts at every range, and the official material says exactly that: silver stakes that mark and close distance, machine-gun fire, a returning glaive, and the sword waiting when he arrives. The Marked for Death system threads it together, rewarding him for landing his tools before committing.

His counter-guard, Daywalker Deflect, also feeds Marked for Death, so even his defense hunts. He was playable in the beta; verified ranges, frame data, and combo routes arrive with the launch build.

Inputs use numpad notation for a character facing right: 2 is down, 6 is forward, so 236 is a quarter-circle forward and 623 a “dragon punch” motion; L/M/H are the three attack strengths and U is the Unique button. The game also has simplified one-button skills — the controls guide covers both.

Startup, active, recovery and on-block values need the retail build to measure and land here after August 6, 2026. Invented frame data is worse than none.

How to play Blade

Blade fights at every range and runs a resource most of the cast doesn't. Heart Stopper fires aimable silver stakes from a limited stock, and landing them applies Marked for Death; Up the Stakes refills the stock while he's grounded. So there's a constant manage-your-ammo rhythm — stake up, tag the mark, spend it.

Between reloads he covers space with everything: Bullet Barrage rains machine-gun fire, Glaive Strike is a boomerang that goes out and back, Vampire Cleave is a piercing lunge, and Vampire Slayer is his anti-air. He has a genuine answer at close, mid and long range.

The engine is stakes plus Marked for Death, and even his defense feeds it — Daywalker Deflect is a counter-guard that activates the mark on a successful block. Muramasa Moon, the Ultimate, is a projectile-into-follow-up that also grants Marked, so a cash-in leaves the loop primed again.

In the open beta he was the 2nd most-picked fighter (189) and, more tellingly, the single most-called assist in the entire game — 150 of those picks were as an assist. Bullet Barrage covering a point character's approach was the assist everyone wanted; only 39 players fielded him on point.

Kit-level gameplan from Blade’s documented moves and the open-beta usage split — not frame data. Specific frame advantages and matchup reads land once the retail build is tested.

On the Vibranium and above leaderboard, Blade was picked 189 times across 1,600 character slots — 2nd most-picked of the 16 playable.

Players overwhelmingly used Blade as an assist — 79% of picks — rather than as the fighter they started the match with. Compare every fighter’s beta pick rate.

By raw picks, Blade landed just ahead of Magneto and just behind Magik.

Popularity is not strength — this counts what people chose over one three-day weekend on a pre-launch build, not what wins.

Combo routes for Blade live at ComboForge, where players have been submitting and voting on them for a year. That is a better source than anything we would assemble here.
