Summary
The Danger Room made flesh — the roster's wildest deep cut.
The strangest name on the launch roster is a sentient training room. Danger, the Danger Room's AI given a humanoid body, fights with deployable hazards that turn the stage into her own simulation.
A trap archetype backed by a four-character team opens setups solo fighters cannot run, which is presumably why she took a slot over more famous mutants. She was playable in the beta, so setup footage exists; trap durations and damage get verified here at launch.
The day-one patch singled her out: her ground dash was reworked so it can now cancel into a skill, which gives her setplay a faster, safer way to convert a dash into a device or a hit. See the full breakdown on the patch notes page.

Inputs use numpad notation for a character facing right: 2 is down, 6 is forward, so 236 is a quarter-circle forward and 623 a “dragon punch” motion; L/M/H are the three attack strengths and U is the Unique button. The game also has simplified one-button skills — the controls guide covers both.
Startup, active, recovery and on-block values need the retail build to measure and land here after August 6, 2026. Invented frame data is worse than none.
How to play Danger
Danger is trap setplay, and she plays a board she builds first. Calibrate fires a projectile that deploys up to three devices, and her other moves change on contact with them — so the gameplan is to seed the screen, then attack through what you have placed. She is weakest with an empty board and scariest with a full one.
Holobeam and Holoseeker prime and detonate the devices, Drill Piercer chips heavily on block, Kill Switch lunges through and side-switches, and Translocation teleports her to a device to reset position. Synchrobeam, her Super, fires from every deployed device at once — the literal payoff for having set the board.
The devices are her resource: her damage and screen coverage scale with how many are out, so the neutral is really a race to establish them. Metamorphosis, her Ultimate, powers up Drill Piercer for the rest of the round.
In the open beta she was the least-picked of all 16 playable fighters (46 picks, 6 on point and 40 as an assist). Read that in context: setplay characters need lab time before they pay off, and a three-day beta is the opposite of lab time. Her low number is "unsolved in a weekend," not "weak" — the kind of character whose stock usually moves once people sit down with the retail build.
Kit-level gameplan from Danger’s documented moves and the open-beta usage split — not frame data. Specific frame advantages and matchup reads land once the retail build is tested.
On the Vibranium and above leaderboard, Danger was picked 46 times across 1,600 character slots — 16th most-picked of the 16 playable.
Players overwhelmingly used Danger as an assist — 87% of picks — rather than as the fighter they started the match with. Compare every fighter’s beta pick rate.
By raw picks, Danger landed just behind Ms. Marvel.
Popularity is not strength — this counts what people chose over one three-day weekend on a pre-launch build, not what wins.

Combo routes for Danger live at ComboForge, where players have been submitting and voting on them for a year. That is a better source than anything we would assemble here.
